CASE STUDY: Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba

In collaboration with The Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, we embarked on a video series project for their annual Champion Child Campaign. This case study showcases our storytelling approach and the transformative impact it had on raising awareness and support for children facing medical challenges. Through the remarkable journey of a brave young girl named Kiera, who was born with the rare birth defect Craniosynostosis, we aimed to inspire resilience and rally the community behind this important cause.

Discovering the Challenges

During the initial stages of the project, we closely engaged with The Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba team to understand the objectives and challenges they faced. 

Here’s what we discovered:

  1. Creating Emotional Connection: The primary challenge was to create an emotional connection between the viewers and the children who rely on the specialized care provided by the hospital. We aimed to showcase the strength, courage, and resilience of these children and their families, highlighting the impact of medical conditions on their lives.
  2. Raising Awareness and Support: Another challenge was to raise awareness about the Champion Child Campaign and encourage viewers to support the cause. The goal was to generate empathy and understanding, inspiring individuals and organizations to contribute to the foundation’s efforts in providing critical medical care, research, and support services.

The Storytelling Concept

To address these challenges, we developed a compelling storytelling concept centered around the incredible journey of Kiera, a young girl born with Craniosynostosis. We created two videos as part of the series: a full-length story video and a shorter teaser for social media promotion.
